To put that total into perspective, Tecate paid $5.6 million for the same spot in Mayweather's 2015 bout against Pacquiao. The company that gains this sponsorship would get its logo in the center of the ring at the T-Mobile Arena. It will also see its branding on the ring girls, two of the ropes and in the neutral corners.

The deal would also include a logo bug on the screen during the first minute of every round on the pay-per-view broadcast and $500,000 in tickets. Rovell also reports that a company who wants to purchase sponsorship in the fighter's corners must pay $5 million. That would include signage and a logo bug shown during corner cam segments and $250,000 in tickets.

If all of the sponsorship is sold, the total would be $20 million, which is almost $7 million more than the $13.2 million paid for Mayweather-Pacquiao.

The pricing set for these advertising spots comes from data generated by analytics teams, marketing specialists, and social media experts. Let's just say, if the $10 million and $5 million totals weren't realistic, they probably wouldn't have been set.

In turn, any company willing to pay that much for advertising spots is almost certainly doing its due diligence to ensure their advertising dollars will go to good use.

Mayweather-McGregor Pay-Per-View Totals Will Not Disappoint

Pay-per-view totals for Mayweather-Pacquiao were staggering for HBO and Showtime. An estimated six million combined homes in the United States and the United Kingdom purchased the fight. Don't forget about the ticket sales. Tickets for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao ranged from $1,500 to $10,000. The result was a gate that finished at $73 million. If you think the relative abrupt nature of the fight announcement will hurt sales, think again. Mayweather-Pacquiao tickets went on sale just nine days before the fight.

Let's also remember that Mayweather-Pacquiao took place at the MGM Grand, which holds a little over 17,000 for boxing. Mayweather-McGregor will be held at The T-Mobile Arena which holds about 20,000. No one who knows anything about combat sports disagrees with them, but the mentions are driving awareness. Blend those accounts in with the opinions of those who believe McGregor has a shot–or are paid to create a swerve–and you have debate/discussion.

If you've seen a recent UFC event with McGregor on the card, then you know how well his fans travel, so there's no reason to believe a number of them won't tune in to see this fight.

McGregor is also a much better self-promoter than Pacquiao. The Irishman has built his fame on the strength of his elite-level mixed martial arts striking, a massive heart that pushes him to take on major challenges and a gift of gab only equaled in his sport by Bellator's Chael Sonnen.

When McGregor speaks, he has eyes and ears. He has 4.5 million followers on Twitter and he's already using his platform to hype the fight in a personal and effective way.

This could be one of the easiest Mayweather fights to promote. There's a huge novelty factor, his opponent is well known and a master at self-promotion.

The UFC Is A Powerful Promotional Partner

That's just the fighter's angle. This event will be partially promoted by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The UFC's owners WME-IMG had to sign off on McGregor's participation in this event. The UFC President Dana White is charged with promoting the fight. When combined with all of the other marketing appeal, the event could hit windfall.

McGregor is arguably the UFC's most popular fighter. The only person on his level is Ronda Rousey, and no one knows if she'll ever fight again in any capacity. McGregor is likely to draw a good percentage of MMA fans.
